The Fine Print
Cookies and Device Storage
Last updated November 1, 2026
The short version: Grimoire doesn't use cookies. It saves a few things in your browser so it can work offline and keep you signed in, and that's it.
Device Storage, Not Cookies
Grimoire uses your browser's local storage to keep:
- your settings, like where the tabs and sidebar sit
- an offline copy of your notebooks, plus changes waiting to sync
- which tab and page you had open, and a running focus timer
- when Grimoire last synced
Staying Signed In
When you sign in, Supabase keeps a sign-in token in local storage, so you don't have to sign in every time you open the app.
Offline App Files
A service worker saves Grimoire's own files on your device, so the app opens without a connection and can be added to your home screen.
What We Don't Do
No advertising or analytics cookies, from us or anyone else. Since everything above is needed for Grimoire to work, there's no cookie banner to click through.
Clearing It
Clearing this site's data in your browser removes everything stored here, including any changes that haven't synced yet. Your synced copy stays safe in your account.
